A pair of specs are hard to come by in sub-saharan Africa.
And they can be the difference between a little girl going to school or missing out on an education.
Christina was born with cataracts in her eyes. After her sight-saving operation, she needed glasses to help her see properly. But her parents were too poor to buy them. Without glasses, Christina couldn’t do her school work, she could hardly see the board. It seemed hopeless.
But back in Australia, someone was updating their own specs. They sent in the used pair to us, and we sent them on to Christina. Now she races to school at 6:30am, even though her class starts at 8am! She’s loving her studies, and bursting with life.
